With over three decades of dedicated service in healthcare, Jodie Allen, RN, MSN, strives for excellence in rural healthcare through her leadership role. Her career, which began as a Certified Nurse Assistant, has been marked by continuous professional growth and an unwavering commitment to patient care.
“In our pursuit of excellence in healthcare, we must never lose sight of the individuals we serve. Every patient deserves access to quality care, and it’s our responsibility to advocate for them, especially in rural communities where resources are limited.” – Jodie, Chief Nursing Officer at WCH
Jodie’s educational journey is a testament to her dedication to the nursing profession. She advanced from being a Licensed Practical Nurse at a Long-Term Care Facility for nearly ten years, to obtaining her associate degree in nursing, and eventually earning her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis on Healthcare Leadership.
Her professional experience spans multiple critical care domains, including Dialysis, Intensive Care Units (CCU, CVICU, and Trauma ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Flight Nursing (rotor and fixed wing), and leadership roles such as Emergency Department Director. Since 2019, Jodie has been a pivotal part of WCH, initially serving as the Emergency Department Director. Two years ago, she transitioned to her current role as Chief Nursing Officer, where she continues to make significant impacts.
Originally from a farm in Kansas, Jodie’s personal and professional life has taken her and her family across various parts of the country, including Amarillo, Fort Worth, Bakersfield, Memphis, and Dixon, IL, due to her husband’s work with the railroad. Their love for California’s climate eventually led them to Arizona, where they plan to retire.
Jodie’s passion for nursing is evident in her advocacy for patients, staff, and quality healthcare. She firmly believes that everyone deserves quality healthcare, regardless of their location. Under her leadership at WCH, the institution has forged valuable collaborations with organizations like Barrow Neuro Institute through the Telestroke program and Rural Physician Group to provide comprehensive TeleHealth services in Cardiology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, and Infectious Disease. Additionally, her efforts have been instrumental in achieving and maintaining a Level IV Trauma Certification.
Jodie’s leadership at WCH is characterized by her responsiveness to community needs and her drive to ensure top-tier healthcare services in rural environments. Her dedication to advancing the field of nursing and her commitment to quality care make her an exemplary leader and a respected figure in the healthcare community.
